Flexsola™, based on his patent CA 2843797 Modular System, is the culmination of his innovative design efforts to create affordable, adaptable and environmentally-friendly housing. These efforts started in 1989, when he built his family house with an independent home day care unit operated by his wife, in London, Ontario. Then, in 1996, Nicholas won the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s FlexHousing™ Design Competition, and a model of his design was built in 1997 at the Canadian Centre for Housing Technology in Ottawa.
Nicholas is also interested in new urbanism, sustainable transportation and space habitat, and has launched several innovative ideas described in his book “Brainstorming for a Beautiful Planet”.
